Birmingham Foundation / Local Network Fund forms strategic partnership with West Bromwich Hockey Club.
The Birmingham Foundation, via the Local Network Fund: Black Country, have agreed to support West Bromwich Hockey Club’s Youth Development programme for 2007.
The Birmingham Foundation’s support will enable WBHC to provide a comprehensive coaching and training programme, facilitate organised competitive matches against other groups in the West Midlands area and develop young people of all ages and abilities in order to give them a real sense of progression and achievement.
The project is aimed at boys and girls aged 10-19years, irrespective of ability, from the West Bromwich community. Coaching sessions will be held every Saturday morning 10.30am – 12.00pm on the new Astro Turf at George Salter’s High School, Claypit Lane until Easter, recommencing for the autumn season in September 2007, with home matches being played 12.00pm to 1.30pm on alternate weeks.

“The funding provided by the Birmingham Foundation will enable West Bromwich Hockey Club to buy equipment, hire facilities, train new coaches and umpires, and support the infrastructure necessary to deliver an organised programme in a controlled, safe environment“

Thanks to support from the Greets Green Active Lifestyles project, West Bromwich Hockey Club will be running a series of Hockey coaching & training sessions for the young people of Greets Green to promote Good Health, Fitness & teamwork.
The sessions will run from 10.30am to 12.00pm every Saturday Morning starting Saturday the 14th April, on the new Astro turf pitch at George Salter’s High School, Claypit Lane, West Bromwich.
Sessions are aimed at boys and girls aged 10-19years irrespective of ability and are completely free of charge. All sessions are delivered by fully qualified coaches, equipment is provided and parents are welcome to come along and watch.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for one of the oldest clubs in the country to help the young people of Greets Green learn a new sport or develop existing skills they already have. “

The Barley Mow is presently closed. Therefore we are presently using the faciltities of the Rowley Olympic Club
on Turners Hill at the top of City Road (next to the Wheatsheaf Pub).

Feb 2005 - £200 donation from Mrs Doris Burton (wife of Ron Burton - former player who passed away a few years ago)
The club have decided to make her an honour life vice president which she has accepted.

The club have received a £300 cheque for grant aid from Sandwell Sports Council on Saturday for investment
in our junior section and for education of coaches (does this include teaching them the English language? - ed), etc.
