Kingswinford

West Bromwich travelled to local neibours Kingswinford who up until Saturday had not lost a hockey game at home this season, but that soon came to an end with West Bromwich 3rds winning 3-1 with a goal from Mark Jones and two from Julian Hickman.

Stafford

A good hard game with West Brom taking the lead with a goal from Andy Gaskin 15 minutes into the game but Stafford soon got a goal back just before half time. Not long into the second half Stafford got a second and West Brom had to dig deep to get an equaliser ten minutes from full time the goal was scored by peter icke. West Brom on a good day had they have taken just half of there chances would have come away with two or maybe three goals clear but it was not to be and the score stayed at 2-2

Stone

Saturday saw West Bromwich Hockey Club 3rd X1 travel to Stone for a 4pm start. It was a bitter cold day and Stone took the lead ten minutes into the game and looked a very strong team with good passing and a determination to win. West Bromwich had to work hard and scored a short corner bang on half time. The second half was all West Bromwich and it was not long before West Bromwich found themselves 3-1 up with two goals from Julian hickman and one from Peter Icke

Walsall

A bad tempered meeting with Walsall saw West Brom shoundly beaten by a very good Walsall side. The initial 15 minutes favoured West Brom and they justifyably went ahead with a cracking shot from Andy Gaskin from the top of the D. Thereafter the play went increasingly to Walsall, especially after Richie Moore came off ill. Phil G stepped in at right full back.

Some very dubious decisions from one of the umpires turned what would have been a cracking local derby into a bad tempered affair. It was a shame to see this as otherwise this was a very good match to watch, with Walsall playing some lovelly flowing hockey and West Brom counter attacking.

Bromsgrove

Saturday saw west Brom 3rds travel Redditch to play Bromsgrove away . West Brom took the lead just eight minuets into the first half with a fine goal from lee thornton after garath had taken the ball from just inside our half into Bromsgroves Dee and laid it back for lee to put away into the back of the net. Just before half time west Brom strook again with a fine ball from Garath Sykes to Lee Thornton then onto Alex who passed it back to Lee who shot at goal and Julian Hickman put away the deflection from the keeper to make it 2-0 before half time .

The second half saw Bromsgrove come out strong and for all there pressure they got a from a scrappy defensive error making the score 2-1 to west Brom ten minutes from time Bromsgrove where given a penalty for yet another strange decision by the umpire . But many thanks to Jon lees our keeper who made a fine save to keep it out . At close of play west Brom could have once again come away with a five goal win but had to settle for a 2-1 win which is fine butwith a little more luck and understanding umpires we felt the score could have better . Well done Alex a new comer to the thirds well played and yes it is a big difference to the badgers . Last of all I would like to Garath Sykes for his contribution to the third team over the last two years we will be very sad to see both him and his wife Jemma and the cat leave for pastures new . Both Garath Jemma and the cat are leaving to emigrate to Australia what a shame for all those Aussie's down under West Brome are sending them another dribbling pom . God help you guys if you need someone to look after the cat while you are at work please just give me a call and I feel sure we can work something out

PS To garath / jemma and the cat WE WISH YOU ALL THE VERY BEST WITH YOUR NEW ADVENTURE AND HOPE YOU MAKE IT GOOD. MANY THANKS, YOUR CAPTAIN.

3rds vs Bromsgrove - cracking performance in all areas - playing 3 - 4 - 2 - 1?? Won 2-1 against the team in second who have only lost to Walsall at top. Goals from Toff Thornton and Jules 'sniffer' Hickman.

Flick saved by Leesy diving the wrong way but got a foot up! Could have been 5-5 on chances, but both keepers and defences played well, and Jules stopping Phils goalbound shot with his size 15s. Some dodgy umpiring as both umpires were theirs!

Evesham

Sunday West Brom travelled to Evesham to replay there abandoned game it was a fine sunny day and West Brom like the weather turned out to be top dollar . Evesham took the lead early after the start of the game with a good goal scored from a good cross . After Eveshams early goal West Brom them woke up and started to apply the pressure and it was only a matter of time before Eveshams defence caved in to yet another short corner but this time Kevin Scholz put the ball straight down the centre of the goal and across the line ( fine strike ) half time West Brom made one change and brought on experience for youth and got the second goal from a fine hit in the Dee from Phill Gutteridge to wards the right of the post where Julian Hickman deflected into the back of the net putting the score at 2-1 to West Brom and out of the reach of Evesham .

Like the weather this weekend West Brom came out on top with two games and maximum points from both games . well done guys

Phil G

Again a great performance with 9 of the 12 having played a full game the day before After going one down against run of play, Kev Sholtz equalized from a short corner. Jules Hickman got second from a deflection off Phil's wide shot - Jules knew nothing about it.

2 yellows - one for them swearing and Kerry Moore - dirty foul on a kid!!! He is a teacher though!! Held out despite tired legs - no-one could run much !

Kidderminster

Kidderminster - 17/02/2007

Saturday saw West Brom 3rds travel to Kidderminster for a 3.00pm start the game started very slowly for West Bromwich and soon the first half had been and gone with West Brom doing very little in the competing side of the game with kiddy getting to most of the first balls well before any west Brom player.

Glad to say the second half was very much different with west Brom getting a goal five minutes into the second half with a goal from Peter Icke .West Brom then kept up the pressure and got their just rewards  with finishing  the game with a 3-1 win with two goals from Peter Icke and one from Andy Gaskin . Kiddy got a penalty right on the end of full time.

Pershore

Sunday West Brom 3rds played host to Pershore having played Kiddy on the Saturday Pershore turned up with a side that did not justify there position in the league and it was a very tight game until Andy Gaskin broke the dead lock with a soft sloppy goal that West Brom could only be great full for. Holding the lead up to half time West Brom looked comfortable. Ten minutes into the second half Pershore scored a short corner bringing the score to 1-1 and West Brom needed to win this game to keep up the pressure on the top three teams in there league.

Ten minutes from time West Brom's captain made a substitute and brought on Phil Gutteridge who with his first touch of the ball put the ball high into the roof of the net from just inside the Dee. A great goal from a great player and at the time Pershore could only look on with amazement as the ball flu around the goal net like a marble in a jam jar, Well Done Mr Gutts!

Market Drayton

Market Drayton - 24/2/2007

West Bromwich 3rds entertained Market Drayton at home, the game started well but against play Market Drayton scored to put them 1-0 in front. But it was not long before West Brom made the score 1-1. West Brom played there first game without Gareth Sykes who is due to move to Australia this week and to be fair they showed that they could still be a force for any opponent. Five minutes into the second half West Brom took the lead and for 15 minutes put so much pressure on to Market Drayton that  they conceded a further three goals . Market Drayton scored a second goal making the final score 5-2. The goal scorers for this week where Peter Icke 2x, Kerry Moore 1, Julian Hickman 1, and a fine solo goal from Andy gaskin.

Kingswinford

Kingswinford - 03/3/2007

Saturday West Brom played host to Kingswinford who sit at the bottom of West Midlands division 2, so it was no surprise that the score of 8-1 to West Brom, With three goals from Chris Jones three goals from on form Peter Icke who is having a fab season so far with 23 goals up to yet a further goal from Julian Hickman and a fine goal from Lee Thornton (Toff). High light of the game was Peter Icke (captain for the day) taking off his keeper (Jon lees) for letting in a goal and playing with an extra out field player much to the disgust of Jon. But on the hole it was a fair result as West Brom missed as many as they scored. West Brom travel to Stafford this Saturday to keep up the pressure at the top of their division with only 4 points between West Brom in forth place and Bromsgrove in second.

Stafford

Stafford - 10/3/2007

Well all teams have a bad game and Saturday was West Brom’s bad day. We could put it down to nerves we could put it down to bad luck but on the day West Brom just could not get it together the final score was 1-1 with West Brom’s keeper having to play out of his skin for a change saving a flick in the first half an making some fine saves during the game Julian Hickman scored West Brom’s only goal (thank god). But to be fair the forwards had very little if none at all of the ball .The umpiring was poor once again from Stafford with some very strange discussions on the day but that is no excuse for not putting it together on the day and playing well.
