With the 1st XI playing away at Cannock in the Staffordshire Cup the 2nd XI were issing a couple of players due to the
1st taking a sqaud of approx 20. One particular member missing waqs their new goalkeeper and with Mark S refusing to play
'between the sticks' the 2nd XI decided to play with no goalie or kicking back. The day was sunny and we had 21 members
playing surprisingly good competitive hockey. this was not like club games of old. the astomosphere was good and we all
were happy to be back playing hockey on a saturday. the game finsihed witha goal feast of 12 goals and everyone enjoyed
their selves.
roll on the rest of the season!!!!!!

well West Brom 3rds played Bloxwich on Saturday and made a fine start
to the beginning of a new season with a 4-2 win. With goals being
scored by Peter icke, Juls hickman, Kerry Moore and Phill Gutteridge.
The game went well for west Brom with two goals in the first half
followed by a further two later in the second. Saturday saw the
arrival of maybe a new member to the club by the name of Gareth who was
made welcome by all and look forward to seeing a lot moore of him
throughout the coming season.

Saturday saw West Brom 3rds travel to Wolverhampton to play old wolves
in there second friendly of three before the start of there league
season . West Brom started this week with a good solid performance
against an experienced Old Wolves side . Three times west brom took the
lead in a good hard end to end game but three times gave away goals that
were caused by silly errors . Goal scorers for West Bromwich were
Peter icke / Juls hickman / Robin snead

Not a good day on Saturday with West Brom losing their first game of the new season against Bromsgrove 2-1 .
with West Brom missing two penalties in the first half .The goal we scored was by Pete icke making his tally so far to
five goals in four games." keep up the good work Pete" . West Broms defence looked very disjointed this week with players
playing as if they where playing with total strangers instead of good friends . If their was one thing that
came from the game, it is that we will never play that poorly again .

well Saturday saw west Bromwich lose 1-0 to Kidderminster in there first league game of a new season. the game it self was a good hard game played between to sides who where not giving anything away . kiddieminester took the lead in the first half and held onto it well as west brom put them under constant pressure . west brom where robbed of a penalty in the first half when a shot at goal was stopped by a defender with his leg . the out come of the game was there is plenty more to come from west brom . just watch this space

well saw west Bromwich get there first three points of the new season
.by beating bloxwich at home by one goal and that was scored by a solo
run from Mr Sykes . but the game was not short of unusual / (strange)
events through out . I stand tall and may I say that umpiring
is a thank less task . TRYING to make the right decisions in the time
it take to wink an eye . BUT in defence of the players on the pitch if
umpires let play run for a little while then may be the out come of the
incident would be a true reflection of the offence . on Saturday
one of the west Bromwich players had what can only described as an
unlucky day . what could have been three goals ended up as zero . twice
the ball was put into the net .the first time the ball was said to have
been above the back board when it crossed the line but somehow hit the
backboard at the back of the goal . the second goal was put into the
roof of the net and the umpire returned the ball to give a short corner
( what happened to advantage) . the third mishap was yet another
miss-carrage of justice the ball was hit from the right into the Dee
making its way to the west broms forward. during its journey it hit a
defenders foot on the top of Dee and arrived at the forward with GOAL
written all over it until the umpire blew up for the feet out side the
Dee as a captain all I can say is bad luck player these umpires can only
get better ( with laser eye surgery ) ALL IN GOOD FUN well done both
players and umpires on the day

a game of many talking points, a game the 3rds could have won by many more goals (but not the 3 gutts claimed he was denied). umpiring is a skill I try to master each week and I got the advantage for phils first (apparent hospital job for the keeper if advantaged had been played!!) wrong (enjoy it I shall not be apologising in future!!!), but I got the second bang on and the third was the other guys fault not mine (I know umpires work as a team but I got to spread the blame some where!!!).
great old fashioned game of hockey and, joking aside about gutts feelings (I have the rest of the team to think of you know!!!!), it has been good to umpire the 2nds, 3rds and badgers games and enjoy my Saturdays again. The social side of hockey has been fantastic in the Rowley.

Poor performance. No team work, no passing, too many individuals. Going to be a long season unless attitudes change.

West Brom welcomed Stone for there first encounter between the two sides for quite a long time . West Brom took the lead in the first half with a well taken short corner and Craig judkins finding the net for the first time this season .West Brom produced some fine hockey on Saturday; the best this season.
In the second half Stone brought the score back to 1-1 with what can only be described as a defensive error . the second half saw a fine goal from peter icke driving the ball into the goals from on top of Dee .the third goal came from Danny groves with a first attempt at killing the fly by reverse stick tactics sending the goalie to the floor only to stop fresh air on his second attempt at the ball he found it fairly easy to put the ball into an empty net making the final score 3-1 to west brome

Saturday 5/11/05 saw west brom travel to Walsall to play a team that had come down from the league above this season . west brom started realy well keeping good possession for most of the first half with a lot of one touch moves that looked very impressive. west brom took the lead in the first half with a goal from juls hickman who put away a well deserved chance .the second half saw Walsall putting on the pressure trying to pull back the one goal that they needed to get the draw but Saturday the luck was with west brom and they came away with 0-1 win. We also saw a short spell of one of our former first team players that has not played for seven years due to a bad injury. Welcome back lee Thornton
(toff) glad to an old face.

Saturday saw west brom turn out a 4-1 win against a fairly good kingswindford side who are bottom of division ( do not understand why ) . all four goals came from set moves witch was good to see . at half time west brom where leading 3-1 with well worked short corner goals from d.groves /a. hobbly .
After the turn round west brom found themselves pined in there Own half of the field for most of the half . A few players where starting to feel the pain of having started so strong in the first thirty five minutes but kept strong and did well to finish on top with the forth goal being scored by Andy baker the first goal this season for him. All in all a good first half followed by a well defended second half

Saturday saw west brom thirds o old sills . A TEAM THAT ARE PLAYING WELL IN A DIVISION ABOVE West brom .
the game started well and west brom held onto the ball with a good understanding of what life would be like
in the league above . Old sills took the lead after about twenty minutes with a well taken goal from there
number 23 just before half time Mark Jones pulled the score to 1-1 .
the second thirty five minutes saw both teams play for the win. In the end west brom s keeper gave up the fight and told his defence to LEAVE a shot that was struck just inside the Dee
only to find old sills forward who stood tall at ft. 8" run round the back and put the ball into an empty net . the final score was 3-2 to old sills and apart from the one cock up by the keeper the win may have west broms way . old sills are 4th in there league and we are standing 5th in ours not a bad result on the day

Saturday saw our thirds start the second half of our league season with a home game against Kidderminster . kiddy took the lead early in the first half while west brom where still in the changing rooms ( cheats ) with a second goal being scored before half time .
To be fair west brom did not play all that well but knuckled down to keep in touch with kiddy which paid off with a goal coming from Gareth Sykes after a scramble around the goal keepers pads . the second goal came from west broms captain Phil Gutteridge playing centre forward . the final score ended at 2-2 which on the was a fair result to both sides

West brom turned out what can only be described as there best game of the season. With a few regular players missing the team had to be rearranged to cover the posititions.
Once the game got under way west brom took control and for all their hard work where awarded a penalty stroke after a Redditch defender stopped a goal with his feet .Peter icke took the penalty but it was not west broms day as the penalty was saved .After thirty minutes of pressure west brom had missed a penalty missed an open goal and three or four good oppertunaties of taking the lead .
At half time there was no way west brom where going to loos this game .Twenty miniuts into the second half west brom once again hit the post. Redditch had very few chances of winning this game but for a half push from the top of the Dee witch
saw goal keeper Jon. lees try to move his right foot in an attempt to clear the ball but was rooted to the spot with super glue.Redditch got the only goal in a good hard game played in fine sprit.
Bad luck west brom

We outplayed Stone like you wouldn’t believe. A special mention to Phil who is doing a
sterling job and sat in the cold on Saturday coming off the bench to score at the end!!
He is not as fit and sometimes struggles but when he is in the D he is deadly.
Only wish we all had his touch.

Saturday west brom entertained Walsall at home and once again started
as they had finished at stone on top with plenty in reserve. The first
twenty minuets saw west brom score two goals the first was a well
worked short corner being moved round the Dee with Walsall not to sure
where the ball was until it was in the back of the net .
The second goal was scored by Martian ward from a scurry in the goal
mouth the ball was half cleared and Martian just played it back towards
the goal and yes west brom where 2-0 after twenty minutes. But like all
good games against Walsall within three minutes Walsall had not only got a goal
back but had got the equalizer . ( what a game )
Mid way through the second half west brom once again got on top off
there nerves and reagined the lead with a cracking goal from lee
Thornton appearing from the blind side of the defence and converting a
shot towards the net of Walsalls goal . West brom
finished the game 3-2 up and to be fair apart from a few defensive
errors over a three minuet spell in the first half never looked like
givin this game away
WELL DONE ALL

Saturday saw west brom play there local derby against kingswinford on what must have been the
coldest day this decade . With a bitter cold wind blowing across the pitch the wind was cutting .
West brom started well and took control of the game straight from the start .
peter icke had a good all round game and for his persistence up front got his just rewards with
his first hat trick of the season well done peter . A goal from Andy gaskin saw west brom maintain
there control of the game and kingswinford sadly had no answers on how to stop the constant
pressure of west broms forwards . With two minutes to go once again west broms phill gutteridge
scored from the top of the Dee making the final score 5-0 to west Bromwich

West Brom welcomed Market Drayton to tividale on sunday after over powering Pershore on Saturday
it now time for market Drayton to feel the strength in depth that west broms 3rd team.
As predicted west brom where at market Drayton from the off and it was only ten minutes until
west brom got under way with there best result this season. It has been clear all season that the
way west brom have played this season that someone would receive at sometime a good hammering
and sure enough sunday saw west brom beat market Drayton 6-0 with three goals from peter icke
one from Julian one from Chris Jones and last but not least one from KEVIN SCHOLZ. Well done.

Saturday saw west brom entertain pershore in there push for promotion betting pershore 4-1 at
home with two goals from chriss jones and two goals from perter icke. west brom never looked
like loosing there grip on this game .taking control right from the start .the score was good
but now we have to do the same to-morrow ia our rearranged game against market drayton
