The Second XI were away to a strong Bromsgrove side, matching them goal for goal until the final five minutes of the match. Bromsgrove opened the scoring midway into the first half with a goal in open play.
West Bromwich were quick to respond with a ball played into the Bromsgrove D, received by Alec Bavington the youngest player on the who calmly lifted the ball into the opponents net.
After half time, West Bromwich conceded instantly and the battle for the match really took hold. Finally Captain Dan Hunt managed to get a well deserved equaliser after a period of sustained pressure from West Bromwich with a neat finish at the far post. The eleven men of West Bromwich battled and presssed for the winning goal, but in the end, numbers, and fresh legs paid off in Bromsgrove's favour with two quick goals in the dying minutes of the game.
The final 4-2 score-line flattered Bromsgrove as it had been a very even contest throughout, well fought by both teams.
